ISLAMABAD: The 15th round of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability was held in Islamabad, where both sides held detailed discussions on matters of international security, and regional and global stability.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary Tahir Andrabi, while the Russian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister S.A. Ryabkov. The talks focused on arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation issues.
Both delegations also consulted on the agenda of the UN General Assembly’s First Committee, the Conference on Disarmament, and conventions related to the prohibition of chemical and biological weapons. In addition, discussions were held on space security, international information security, and emerging technologies, including aspects of the use of artificial intelligence for military purposes.
The spokesperson noted that both countries expressed satisfaction over the broad consensus on key international issues and agreed to maintain communication at bilateral and multilateral forums. It was also decided that the 16th meeting of the Consultative Group will be held in Moscow next year.
