WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Abdullah Al-Jadaan in Washington, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on bilateral trade relations and private sector investment opportunities.
During the meeting, both sides also exchanged views on the role of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb briefed his Saudi counterpart on the progress made in the privatization of Pakistan’s national airline and airports, highlighting the government’s commitment to advancing key economic reforms. He also expressed Pakistan’s desire to secure Saudi support for infrastructure development projects in the country.
Minister Aurangzeb further assured the Saudi side that Pakistan is firmly implementing the reform agenda under the IMF program, and the government is taking serious and concrete steps to place the national economy on a sustainable and stable footing.
Both finance ministers agreed that the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia goes beyond traditional friendship, emphasizing that there are significant opportunities for strategic economic partnership, which both countries are committed to expanding in the future.
