AlUlAa (SAUDI ARABIA): At the AlUla Conference 2026 for Emerging Market Economies in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia engaged in high-level discussions to explore collaboration in technology, human resource development, and broader economic cooperation.
The conference provided a strategic platform for both countries to align on initiatives that could drive mutual growth and strengthen bilateral ties.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a detailed meeting with Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation and follow up on Saudi Arabia’s investment plans in Pakistan.
Both sides emphasized the importance of structured partnerships that can generate tangible economic benefits for their respective countries.
A major focus of the discussions was Pakistan’s growing pool of highly skilled artificial intelligence and technology professionals.
The Saudi Minister lauded Pakistan’s achievements in producing world-class tech talent, noting that it ranks among the top one or two countries globally in this domain. He expressed Saudi Arabia’s strong interest in leveraging this talent to support and lead the Kingdom’s ongoing digital and technological transformation.
The minister also highlighted international recognition of Pakistani technology professionals, citing US businessman and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who has acknowledged their strength and potential.
The dialogue also addressed progress on the GCC Free Trade Agreement, with both sides emphasizing the need to prioritize increased trade, investment, and exchanges between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb assured that dedicated teams from the Pakistani side are actively coordinating efforts to finalize Saudi investment commitments.
He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Saudi Arabia for organizing the strategically significant conference and thanked Minister Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim for the Kingdom’s continued support of Pakistan’s economic development.
