GENEVA: In response to India at the Human Rights Council, Pakistan stated that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory recognized by the international community.
Pakistan added that the fundamental right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination cannot be denied under any circumstances.
During the Council session, Pakistani diplomat Adeel Mumtaz Khokhar strongly rejected Indian propaganda, asserting that unilateral actions, attempts to alter demographic balances, or manipulations of the electoral process cannot and will not change the legal status of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the region continues to witness serious and systematic violations of human rights, which are meticulously documented in United Nations records.
Khokhar expressed grave concern over multiple human rights issues in Kashmir, including arbitrary detentions, restrictions on freedom of expression, and frequent communication blackouts, which have severely curtailed the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens.
He further emphasized that India must be held accountable for its terrorist activities within Pakistan and its cross-border operations, and he called upon the international community to ensure strict adherence by India to international laws and conventions.
