Pakistan seeks urgent humanitarian assistance for Yemen

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has called for dialogue and urgent humanitarian assistance for Yemen in the United Nations Security Council.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Munir Akram said that Pakistan was concerned about the deteriorating situation in Yemen, adding that the conflict was creating a serious humanitarian, political, economic and environmental crisis in that country and around it.

Munir Akram said that more than 10 million people in Yemen were suffering from malnutrition and around two million people needed immediate humanitarian assistance.

In addition, he stressed that the parties to the conflict should ensure full implementation of the peace accor, and the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

He said a permanent ceasefire in Gaza would promote stability in the whole region.
