ISLAMABAD: Ahead of the much-anticipated T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa, the trophy was officially unveiled in a ceremony held in Islamabad.
Pakistan’s T20 captain Salman Ali Agha and South African skipper Donovan Ferreira jointly presented the trophy during the unveiling event. The first T20 match between the two sides will be played on October 28 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
During the press conference following the ceremony, Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson discussed team preparations and player selections. He confirmed that Babar Azam has been included in the T20 squad and will bat at the number three position.
Hesson added that Usman Khan is known for his strong performances against spin bowling and will also be given an opportunity in the series. He praised Usman Tariq as a promising spin talent, while noting that Fakhar Zaman remains part of the ODI setup and will need to focus on improving his game through first-class cricket.
Speaking about World Cup preparations, Hesson said the coaching staff is exploring multiple combinations and strategies.
He emphasized that Mohammad Haris, despite being given several opportunities, has yet to fully capitalize on them and still requires further development. Players not part of the current T20 squad, he said, should concentrate on performing well in domestic cricket.
