Pakistan stresses timely steps against transnational organized crimes

Debate at UN focuses on crime prevention and criminal justice.

UNITED NATIONS: Transnational organized crimes have become a major international issue impacting nations in different ways. 

However, there is still no pragmatic steps taken by the international forums such as the UN to check thus major issue and protect millions of people against its consequences.

During a debate at the UN today, representatives of different countries shed light on the transnational crimes and said it continued impeding rule of law, economic development and achievement of the global agenda for sustainable development.

Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Aamir Khan took part in the debate in the General Assembly’s Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural issues.

The debate focused on crime prevention and criminal justice and countering the use of information and communications technologies for criminal purposes

Ambassador Khan stressed the need to adopt holistic approach that tackles the root causes, promotes social inclusion, and ensure equal access to justice for all.
