Pakistan, UAE to Further Boost investment and Trade Ties

DUBAI: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Finance in Dubai.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in investment, trade and the telecommunications sector.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed in detail the opportunities for increasing United Arab Emirates (UAE) investment in Pakistan.

Special focus was given to long-standing matters related to the operations and future growth of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).

Discussions also covered Etisalat’s existing investment in Pakistan and its expansion plans. Both sides consulted on ways to further strengthen Etisalat’s stake in PTCL and agreed to resolve outstanding PTCL-related issues at the earliest.

Dar emphasized the need for the swift settlement of pending matters, reiterating Pakistan’s strong commitment to promoting foreign investment and expanding bilateral economic cooperation with the UAE.
