Pakistan-UK Development Talks Resume After Eight Years

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have made significant strides in economic and developmental cooperation.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with UK Minister for International Development Baroness Chapman here, marking the initiation of a new round of development talks between the two nations after an eight-year hiatus.

With over 200 British companies operating in Pakistan, the bilateral trade volume has now surpassed £5.5 billion, reflecting a growing economic partnership.

During the discussions, both sides explored avenues to enhance cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, education, health, environmental sustainability, and social development.

In a parallel initiative, Baroness Chapman, alongside Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, inaugurated the next phase of the Pak-UK Education Gateway.

This phase introduces startup funding programs, expanded online learning initiatives, and enhanced educational opportunities aimed at fostering innovation, skill development, and international collaboration.

Both countries also engaged in detailed discussions on investing in healthcare, education, population management, and environmental sustainability.
