Pakistan Urges Dialogue to End Middle East Crisis
UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar warned that the Middle East is at a dangerous turning point following recent attacks on Iran.
Addressing a high-level session of the UN Security Council, Iftikhar emphasized Pakistan’s deep historical ties with the Arab world and called for strengthened cooperation between the United Nations and the League of Arab States.
He highlighted the importance of regional partnerships amid global political uncertainties.
“While the Security Council holds the primary responsibility for international peace and security, regional organizations play a critical role in conflict prevention, mediation, and stabilization,” he said. “Pakistan supports the Arab League’s efforts to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts and dialogue.”
Ambassador Iftikhar also highlighted the plight of the Palestinian people, noting they continue to face illegal occupation, displacement, and denial of basic rights. He called on Israel to end its illegal occupation across Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and all Arab territories.
Addressing maritime security, he mentioned challenges in the Strait of Hormuz, calling for immediate priorities of a complete ceasefire and restoration of dialogue.
Pakistan continues to advocate for diplomacy and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Middle East, reinforcing its role as a bridge between global and regional actors in pursuit of stability.
