UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has stated that all issues related to Iran’s nuclear program can only be resolved through dialogue, calling for restraint and the avoidance of confrontation.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council meeting on Iran’s nuclear issue, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the UN, Usman Jadoon, said diplomacy remains the only viable path forward. He was of the view that until an alternative arrangement was agreed upon, the framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) should be preserved.
Ambassador Jadoon noted that divisions within and outside the Security Council had deepened in recent months, pushing the international community further away from a constructive solution. He added that diplomacy be given more time to succeed.
He stated that the situation had already become more complex due to violations of the UN Charter and the unilateral use of force, reiterating that Pakistan’s position on the matter remains unchanged.
Pakistan continues to advocate for peaceful engagement and sustained dialogue as the means to address concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear program and to maintain regional and international stability, the diplomat added
