UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad has called for an immediate end to Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Addressing the UN Security Council, he warned of dire consequences if international resolutions are not implemented.

Ambassador Iftikhar highlighted that more than 6,500 lives have been lost since the end of the temporary ceasefire. He said children are dying due to severe malnutrition, and families are being forced to flee repeatedly.

He further stated that over 500 Palestinians have been killed while seeking humanitarian aid, and more than 40,000 have been forcibly displaced.

He described Gaza’s current situation as dire, with people now confined to less than one-fifth of the territory’s area, spaces that are themselves under threat.

Ambassador Iftikhar urged the international community to take urgent action to prevent further escalation and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
