Pakistan, US striving to boost economic ties: Masood Khan

Says our target is to bring 1,000 Pakistani students to US institutes every year.

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Masood Khan has said Pakistan and the US were working hard to strengthen their economic relations and boost the ties in non-security areas. 

He was speaking to a group of Addressing a batch of 16 Foreign Service officers here on Wednesday. 

The officers are undergoing 32-week-ong Urdu language and culture training at Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the United States.

Ambassador Khan called upon US diplomats for Pakistan to use their diplomatic skills and expertise in building people to people linkages and fostering strong economic partnership between the two countries.

The ambassador said Washington and Islamabad had been working jointly with a special focus on their untapped potential, natural resources, geography and rich cultural heritage.

“Our target is to bring one thousand Pakistani students every year so that they are able to benefit from US expertise in advanced disciplines.”

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Joan A. Polaschik briefed the ambassador about various programs at FSI to impart diplomatic training to the US Foreign Service officers and helping them to excel in today’s global arena.
