ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has renewed its commitment to combating illegal migration by strengthening cooperation with the international community.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry at a conference highlighted the urgent need for unified global action and systematic information sharing to curb migrant smuggling networks.
Addressing the international conference on preventing migrant smuggling, the minister said that Pakistan has consistently remained dedicated to promoting safe, orderly, and legal migration across the region.
He noted that dismantling organized human-smuggling networks requires robust and sustained international cooperation, as such networks operate across borders and exploit vulnerable populations.
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) brought together representatives from 30 countries.
Chaudhry described this extensive participation as a significant diplomatic achievement and a testament to Pakistan’s leadership role in addressing migration-related challenges.
International partners commended Pakistan for its ongoing initiatives to curb migrant smuggling and pledged to continue supporting joint efforts.
During the sessions, delegates exchanged effective strategies, reviewed successful interventions, and discussed best practices for countering human smuggling through policy reforms, operational coordination, and capacity building.
