ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned what it called provocative and unacceptable actions by Israeli authorities regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning that attempts to alter the holy site’s status could lead to widespread violence.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar denounced the recent entry of Israeli ministers into the Al-Aqsa compound, describing it as a blatant act of provocation and a desecration of Islam’s third holiest site.
“The presence of Israeli ministers at Al-Aqsa Mosque is a deliberate attempt to inflame religious sentiments,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said. “The international community must take immediate notice of these reckless and inflammatory actions.”
The spokesperson warned that any Israeli intentions to change the historical and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque could trigger devastating violence across the region. “These actions are in clear violation of United Nations and OIC resolutions,” the statement added.
Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination. The Foreign Office reiterated that the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, is essential for lasting peace in the Middle East.
“The international community must hold Israel accountable and ensure the protection of Palestinian rights and religious sanctities,” the statement concluded.
