LAHORE: Pakistan defeated Australia by 90 runs in the second T20 match at Gaddafi Stadium, clinching the T20 series.
This is Pakistan’s first series win against Australia in T20 internationals after seven years.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a challenging total of 198 runs. Australia, in response, was bowled out for just 108 runs in 15.4 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers, especially Abrar, Shadab Khan, and Usman Tariq, put up an exceptional performance, troubling Australia’s top-order throughout the innings.
Cameron Green was the top scorer for Australia, making 35 runs off 20 balls. However, the Australian batting line-up struggled to cope with Pakistan’s bowling attack. Mitchell Marsh, the Australian captain, scored 18 runs, while Travis Head was dismissed for just 4 runs. Other contributors, including Matt Short (27 runs), Xavier Bartlett (10 runs), and Josh Inglis (5 runs), failed to put up significant partnerships.
Pakistan’s all-round performance in the match continued the momentum from the first T20I on January 29, where Saim Ayub was named Player of the Match for his all-round contributions, scoring 40 runs and taking 2 wickets.
The third and final T20 match of the series is scheduled for February 1, 2026, also at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
