MUMBAI: A Pakistani Hindu couple, who had recently migrated to India in search of a better future, were found murdered in their home in Mumbai, according to Indian police.

The victims, identified as Sapna and her husband Sanjay, had relocated to India just a few months ago.

Sapna’s father, in Pakistan, revealed that Mumbai police informed him over a phone call that his daughter and son-in-law had been brutally killed with knife wounds. The couple’s two sons have been taken into protective custody by the local authorities.

According to the victim’s father, Sanjay had established a thriving dry fruit business in Mumbai, and there were no apparent threats or prior indications of danger. He expressed shock and grief over the loss, stating that the motive behind the murder remains unclear, with Indian police investigating multiple possible angles.

Ishwarlal, the head of the local Hindu Panchayat in Pakistan, voiced concerns that justice may be delayed by Indian authorities. He urged the Indian government to ensure a transparent and swift investigation. The Panchayat has also appealed for the repatriation of the bodies to Pakistan so that the couple’s final rites can be performed in their homeland.

The tragic incident has raised questions about the safety and protection of people from Pakistan, even Hindus, in India.
