Pakistani mountaineer injured on Broad Peak

Rescue team on way to retrieve Muhammad Murad Sadpara and bring him down for treatment.

SKARDU: A Pakistani mountaineer has got himself severely injured while trying to scale the Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan, local media reported today.

After receiving the news about the injured mountaineer, local mountaineers have formed a team to go to the mountain and retrieve the injured and bring him down for treatment. Murad Sadpara has already scaled four of the world’s highest peaks, including K2.

It may be noted here that Muhammad Murad Sadpara who is now lying injured on the peak had taken part in a mission to bring down the dead body of another mountaineer Muhammad Hassan Shigri who had died on K2 last year.

According to the reports, Murad Hasan Sadpara had gone along with the woman mountaineer from Portugal to scale the Broad Peak. He was injured in the head from a falling stone at Camp 1.

Mountaineers including Sajid Sadpara and Naila Kiani have called upon the government to arrange a helicopter to bring down the injured mountaineer from the base camp of Broad Peak for his early treatment.
