ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has successfully placed its new remote sensing satellite into orbit, marking a significant milestone in the country’s space program.

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) confirmed the successful deployment and operational readiness of the advanced satellite.

Launched on July 31, 2025, from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC), the satellite has established stable communication with ground stations and has begun transmitting high-resolution images to Earth. These images will provide crucial data for multiple national sectors.

Equipped with state-of-the-art imaging capabilities, the satellite will play a transformative role in urban planning, infrastructure development, and regional management.

It will also assist in monitoring urban expansion trends and provide valuable support in strengthening disaster management systems. The satellite will deliver timely data for responding to floods, earthquakes, landslides, and other natural hazards.

In addition, it will contribute to environmental protection by monitoring indicators such as glacial melting, deforestation, and climate change. The technology will also support the agricultural sector by enhancing crop productivity.

The satellite is expected to play a key role in national development projects, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), through mapping transport networks, identifying geographical risks, and optimizing resource utilization.

According to a SUPARCO spokesperson, these enhanced capabilities will not only strengthen decision-making across various fields but also promote sustainable socio-economic development and reinforce Pakistan’s technological self-reliance.

This achievement highlights Pakistan’s progress in space-based technologies and underscores SUPARCO’s commitment to strengthening the country’s space infrastructure.

Beyond boosting national resilience, the satellite opens new opportunities for sustainability, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.
