ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s passport has climbed 20 places in the global rankings and is now listed among the top 100 passports in the world, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025.

This was stated by Minister for parliamentary affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry during question hour in the National Assembly today.

He said that the government had signed visa exemption agreements with 50 countries for holders of diplomatic and official passports. To improve security, all fake computerized ID cards and passports will be canceled.

In Islamabad, free public Wi-Fi will soon be available at 30 locations, including metro bus stations, parks, hospitals, and markets.

A special committee has also been formed to ensure the capital has enough water to meet demand for the next 50 years, with plans to use Chara Dam, Shahdara Dam, and additional supply from Ghazi Brotha and Khanpur Dams.

The rise in Pakistan’s passport ranking reflects the country’s efforts to enhance international travel freedom and improve public services.
