NEW YORK: The international conference in New York focused on advancing the two-state solution for Palestine has been suspended.

The decision came after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was unable to attend due to suspended flight operations in the region, which made his travel to the U.S. impossible. He officially apologized for not being able to participate.

The conference was initially scheduled to take place from June 17 to 20. In response, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the conference will be rescheduled and relocated to ensure broader participation.

He reaffirmed France’s strong commitment to the two-state solution and emphasized that recognizing Palestine as a state is a sovereign decision by France.

The situation underscores the ongoing challenges in the region and the complexities of diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.
