SADA (KURRAM): The Pashtoon National Jirga on Wednesday reached Sada to negotiate peace among two tribes.

The 125-member Jirga will arrange negotiations between the warring tribes in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakthunkhwa where over 100 people have been killed in the last one month or so.

As a prelude to the peace Jirga, a ceasefire is in effect for about four days during which no untoward incident occured in the restive area inhabited by Shia and Sunni tribesmen. However, the main highway between Kurram and Peshawar is still closed after the massacre of over 50 passengers a few days ago. All other roads in the district are also closed.

The members of the Pashtun National Jirga have been drawn from religious and political parties across the province of Khyber Pakthunkhwa. The members of the Jirga reached Kurram in a convoy of 25 vehicles.

After meeting tribal leaders in Sada the Jirga members will visit Parachinar.

On the other hand, the Khyber Pakthunkhwa police have written to the home department for the appointment of 400 ex-servicemen to maintain law and order in the Kurram district.
