Passengers, patients stranded as roads to Islamabad blocked

One patient reportedly died in an ambulance after being stuck on road near Jhelum.

RAWALPINDI: Thousands of vehicles including ambulances were reportedly stuck in different cities including Gujar Khan, Jhelum, Taxila and Attock as the government blocked all roads and motorways ahead of PTI’s march on Islamabad on Sunday.

Moreover, according to media reports, the federal government has decided to also suspend internet service in Islamabad on Sunday.

A patient, could not be identified, died in an ambulance near Jhelum bridge while being transporting to DHQ Hospital Jhelum from Sarai Alamgir.

The authorities blocked all motorways in Punjab on Friday and closed the GT Road on Saturday. Other link roads connecting different cities with Islamabad were also blocked. Thousands of people were stuck and unable to travel to their destinations. They were seen cursing both the PTI and the government for creating agonies for them.

The police and district administration of Islamabad and Rawalpindi not only blocked the entry points of the twin cities but also closed outgoing traffic. Moreover, main roads in the capital such as Islamabad Highway, Kashmir Highway, Murree Road were blocked at several points.
