LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the central contracts for national team players for the 2025-26 season.
No player has qualified for the ‘A’ category this year, leading the board to eliminate this top tier from the contract structure.
A total of 30 players have been awarded contracts based on performance, divided equally into Category B, C, and D, with 10 players in each category. The contracts are valid from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
Last year, 27 players were contracted, and this year the number has increased to 30, including 12 new players.
The new additions are: Ahmad Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza, and Sofyan Maqeem.
9 players have retained their previous category, while 8 players failed to secure a contract this year.
No player has been included in the ‘A’ category this year, effectively suspending it. Last year, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were part of the ‘A’ category.
This year, Naseem Shah has moved from Category B to C, while Test captain Shan Masood has moved from Category B to D.
