ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 55 per liter.
The new fuel prices after the government’s increase of 55 rupees per liter are are: petrol: 321.17 Rs per liter and Diesel Rs 335.86 per liter.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik.
Officials said the price hike is due to rising global oil prices. A committee, formed under the Prime Minister’s supervision, reviews petroleum prices on a daily basis to assess market conditions.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the region is facing a war-like situation, and consultations were held with all stakeholders before finalizing the new prices. He emphasized that efforts are being made to minimize the impact of global developments on the public.
Dar also mentioned that discussions have been held with foreign ministers of various countries regarding the ongoing conflict and its effects on energy markets.
