PIA Privatization Enters Final Phase, Says Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has entered its final phase, while the outsourcing of Islamabad International Airport and privatization of distribution companies (DISCOs) are also under consideration.

According to officials, a delegation led by Jacqueline Novogratz, Founder and CEO of Acumen, met with the finance minister to discuss investment opportunities, climate resilience, and economic reforms.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Finance, Aurangzeb briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability and ongoing reform measures. He emphasized the government’s focus on expanding the tax net through AI, data analytics, and digital integration.

The visiting delegation was also given detailed briefings on energy costs, investment climate, and public–private partnership initiatives.
