ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its flights to London after a suspension of nearly six years.
According to the airline, direct flights from Islamabad to London Heathrow Airport will restart on March 29, 2026.
Initially, PIA will operate four weekly flights to London, arriving at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4, one of the airport’s most modern terminals.
PIA has secured approval for four weekly slots at Heathrow, which had been temporarily allocated to another foreign airline to prevent permanent withdrawal.
London holds special significance for PIA as it was the airline’s first international destination and remains one of its most popular and high-demand routes, particularly among Pakistani expatriates and business travelers.
The airline is already operating three weekly flights to Manchester, making the UK an important market for PIA.
Following the easing of aviation regulations, PIA formally informed Heathrow authorities of its plan to resume London operations from March 2026. Aviation experts believe that the restoration of flights to Heathrow will help improve PIA’s international image and commercial prospects, while also offering passengers better onward connections to Europe and North America.
PIA has not yet released detailed flight schedules or confirmed the aircraft type, though wide-body aircraft are expected to be used on the route. The announcement comes in the wake of PIA’s partial privatization, marking a significant step in the airline’s efforts to rebuild its international network.
