ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that May 10 will be observed every year as the “Day of the Battle for Truth” to mark the success of Operation Bunyān al-Marsūs.
The day will be celebrated nationwide with enthusiasm and a spirit of national unity.
In a statement, the prime minister praised the professional excellence of the armed forces and said their performance has made the nation proud. He also declared that May 16, 2025, will be observed as a “Day of Gratitude” to thank God for the country’s military achievements. Special prayers, thanksgiving prostrations, and prayers for national development will be held on the day.
He announced several relief measures for those affected by recent Indian aggression. A special compensation package was introduced for civilians and military personnel who were martyred or injured during the conflict.
According to the announced package: Families of civilian martyrs will receive Rs. 10 million. Injured civilians will be given Rs. 1 million to Rs. 2 million. Military martyrs’ families will receive Rs. 10 million to Rs. 18 million depending on rank. They will also receive housing assistance between Rs. 19 million and Rs. 42 million.
Full salary and allowances of martyred personnel will continue until their retirement date. Children of military martyrs will be provided free education up to graduation.
Each martyr’s daughter will receive Rs. 1 million as a marriage grant. Injured military personnel will receive Rs. 2 million to Rs. 5 million.
The Prime Minister also announced that the federal government will rebuild houses and mosques destroyed in Indian attacks. He added that the government will take full responsibility for the care of martyrs’ children and cover the medical expenses of the injured.
