ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Ambassador of China Jiang Zedong and discussed the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations as well as regional stability.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas including economic growth, security and regional stability, with China reiterating its strong support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his deep appreciation for China’s unwavering assistance in Pakistan’s economic and security sectors, highlighting the critical role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in driving bilateral development. CPEC, as a cornerstone of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), was identified as a key project for advancing mutual interests and strengthening the economic ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Sharif also praised China’s steadfast support in various sectors, acknowledging that the partnership has been a source of stability for both nations. He pointed out the importance of accelerating the ongoing CPEC projects and enhancing collaboration in areas such as agriculture, IT, mining, and minerals to further the economic interests of both nations.
The Prime Minister further emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive environment for Chinese citizens, investments, and businesses operating in Pakistan. He assured that the government would continue to support Chinese ventures, ensuring that all necessary measures were in place to facilitate smooth operations.
Ambassador Jiang Zedong updated Prime Minister Sharif on the recent developments in China-Pakistan relations. He conveyed the best wishes of Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, and reaffirmed China’s full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, regional integrity, and socio-economic advancement.
The two leaders also discussed various regional and global issues of mutual interest. They agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity, both in the region and globally. This continued collaboration, they agreed, would not only benefit Pakistan and China but also contribute to broader regional and international stability.
