ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to remove the Rs35 monthly TV fee charged through electricity bills.
According to sources, the formal and final announcement will be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Currently, this fee is collected from electricity consumers nationwide, generating approximately Rs1.5 billion per month and nearly Rs16 billion annually.
The move is expected to provide some relief to consumers, who will see a reduction of Rs35 in their monthly electricity bills. However, it will also significantly reduce the government’s revenue collected under this head.
