GILGIT: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated several development projects and laid foundation stones aimed at boosting infrastructure, education, and energy.

The prime minister said all necessary resources will be provided to address the region’s challenges. He highlighted the establishment of four Daanish schools in Gilgit-Baltistan, which will offer free education, meals and uniforms to students. These schools will also be equipped with smart boards and e-libraries, emphasizing modern education facilities for the youth.

On the energy front, PM Sharif directed that the 100-megawatt solar project in the region be completed by the middle of next year, underlining the government’s focus on renewable energy and infrastructure development.

Speaking on merit-based initiatives, the prime minister said he had never compromised on merit. He noted that laptops, business and agriculture loan cheques distributed under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program had been awarded purely on merit, recognizing the hard work of deserving youth rather than serving as favors.

Addressing regional affairs, PM Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s role in brokering a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, expressing confidence that this diplomatic effort will be remembered historically as a significant achievement. He expressed hope that the ceasefire would ensure lasting peace in the region.
