LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Pak-Business Express train today, offering improved comfort and convenience for travelers.
He also unveiled upgraded passenger facilities at Lahore Railway Station, including escalators, renovated family lounges, waiting areas, CIP lounge, and free WiFi, according to radio Pakistan.
Sharif praised Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and Pakistan Railways management for their efforts to modernize the network. He called this the first step toward extending such improvements nationwide and emphasized making train travel the preferred mode for the public while enhancing the freight system.
Highlighting Pakistan’s recent four-day conflict with India, the Prime Minister commended the Armed Forces’ courage and technological edge, particularly the Pakistan Air Force and Army’s use of Al-Fatah missiles.
Economically, he noted progress in stabilizing inflation and policy rates. Sharif also mentioned ongoing cooperation with China on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and improving US relations, crediting former President Donald Trump for facilitating the ceasefire with India.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced plans to install ATM and POS machines at 348 stations for cashless ticketing, fully activate inquiry services soon, and install escalators at Karachi Railway Station.
These initiatives mark a new era in modernizing Pakistan Railways and enhancing passenger experience.
