TEHRAN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan is a peaceful country and is ready for dialogue with neighboring countries, including India, on critical issues such as regional peace, water sharing, trade, and counter-terrorism.
He said that Pakistan is willing to take every possible step for peace, but any aggression would be met with a strong response.
The prime minister was speaking at a joint press conference after meeting Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran. He emphasized that Pakistan seeks peace and stability in the region and wants all disputes, including the Kashmir issue, to be resolved through dialogue.
He added, “We invite India to come to the table for talks to resolve issues so that lasting peace can be established in the region.”
PM Shehbaz stated that Pakistan places great importance on its relationship with Iran, and this visit is a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties with the brotherly country. He said that he held detailed discussions with the Iranian President on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and security sectors.
Expressing deep concern over the situation in Gaza, the prime minister called on the international community to ensure an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
He affirmed that Pakistan stands firmly with the Palestinian people and noted that Pakistan and Iran hold a unified stance on this matter at the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) platform.
