NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly session.
Upon arrival, the prime minister was received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative yo the UN Ambassador Munir Akram at the airport.
The prime minister will stay in New York fir five days and is scheduled to address the session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 27.
The prime minister left the country to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 21. He stayed in London for two days before flying to New York.
The UNGA session will be held at the UN headquarters in New York from September 23 to 27.
According to the state media, the prime minister besides addressing the UNGA session will also hold talks with world leaders on the sidelines of the gathering.
In his address at the UNGA, he will express support for the role of the United Nations in forging global peace, security, and prosperity.
He will also emphasize the importance of addressing long-standing issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council, including the question of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on the social networking platform of X, the prime minister stated, “During our interactions, we will take up global issues, promoting peace, development and climate action. Will represent Pakistan’s perspective to the world, advocate our interests and strengthen international partnerships.”
