ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed a strong desire to draw on Indonesia’s valuable experience with the Sovereign Wealth Fund model as part of Pakistan’s efforts to enhance its economic development.
He made these remarks while meeting a five-member Indonesian delegation, led by Minister for Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Roeslani, who called on him in Islamabad today.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to accelerate their efforts to transform the existing preferential trade agreement into a more comprehensive economic partnership agreement by 2027.
The Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its economic ties with Indonesia, emphasizing that the two countries share decades of fraternal relations, which continue to grow and strengthen with time.
Prime Minister Sharif also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, highlighting that the President’s visit to Pakistan last year had proven to be highly productive and played a crucial role in furthering bilateral relations between the two nations.
For his part, Indonesian Minister Rosan Roeslani reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to deepening and advancing bilateral relations with Pakistan, particularly in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani.
