ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to depart for Washington on February 18 to participate in the upcoming Gaza Peace Board meeting, according to official sources.
Sources confirmed that the prime minister will attend the the meeting on February 19, where he is expected to deliver a formal address outlining Pakistan’s perspective on the evolving situation in Gaza and broader regional peace efforts. The high-level meeting is anticipated to bring together prominent global leaders and policymakers to deliberate on diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring peace, stability, and humanitarian relief in Gaza.
Officials further disclosed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold a special bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump on February 20. The meeting is expected to cover matters of mutual interest, including regional security, bilateral relations, and developments related to the Gaza peace initiative. A senior military official from Pakistan is also expected to accompany the prime minister and participate in key discussions during the visit.
In addition to the main proceedings, the prime minister is likely to engage in a series of sideline meetings with other world leaders attending the forum. These interactions are expected to focus on strengthening diplomatic ties, enhancing cooperation, and building international consensus on efforts to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East.
Earlier, Pakistan had formally confirmed its participation in the Gaza Peace Board, expressing optimism that the platform would play a constructive and meaningful role in facilitating dialogue and advancing sustainable peace in the region.
