PML-N Claims Clean Sweep In NA & PA By-Elections

Bags all six National Assembly seats and six out of seven Punjab Assembly seats, most of which had been vacated by PTI.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) has won almost all the national and provincial assembly seats in the by-elections held on November 23, according to unofficial results.

The party clinched all six National Assembly seats and secured six out of seven Punjab Assembly seats, most of which had been vacated by PTI lawmakers following disqualifications or other circumstances.

PML-N’s most notable triumph came in NA-18 Haripur, which witnessed the biggest upset of the by-election cycle.

Babar Nawaz Khan secured 163,996 votes, defeating PTI-backed independent candidate Shehrnaz Umar Ayub, who managed 120,220 votes. The seat had fallen vacant after the disqualification of former opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan in the May 9 riots case.

In NA-129 Lahore, PML-N’s Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman emerged victorious with 63,441 votes, leaving PTI-backed independent candidate Arslan Ahmed behind with 29,099 votes. The constituency became vacant following the death of senior PTI leader Mian Azhar.

Another strong performance for PML-N came from NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan, where Mahmood Qadir Khan secured 82,416 votes to defeat PPP’s Dost Muhammad Khosa, who received 49,262 votes. This seat was previously held by PTI’s Zartaj Gul, who was disqualified earlier this year.

In NA-143 Sahiwal, PML-N’s Muhammad Tufail Jutt won by a wide margin, securing 136,223 votes against independent candidate Zarar Akbar Chaudhry, who received just 13,220 votes.

Similarly, in NA-104 Faisalabad, Daniyal Ahmed of PML-N won with 52,791 votes, defeating independent Rana Adnan Javed.

In NA-96 Faisalabad, Bilal Badr Chaudhry, brother of Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, secured victory with 93,009 votes.

The party also demonstrated strength in the Punjab Assembly by-elections. PML-N recorded victories in PP-87 Mianwali, PP-98 Faisalabad, PP-115 Faisalabad, PP-116 Faisalabad, PP-203 Sahiwal, and PP-73 Sargodha, with decisive margins in nearly all contests.

Notably, PP-116 Faisalabad was won by Ahmed Shehryar, son-in-law of Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah.

The only exception to PML-N’s dominance came in PP-269 Muzaffargarh, where PPP’s Mian Almdar Abbas Qureshi won with 55,611 votes, marking PPP’s sole victory in these provincial contests.

The results sparked swift political reactions. The Prime Minister hailed the outcome as a reflection of public trust in the government’s performance, while PML-N leaders celebrated the party’s strong showing. PTI officials, however, criticized the historically low voter turnout and questioned aspects of the electoral environment.
