President, PM Pay Tribute to Armed Forces on First Anniversary of Marka-e-Haq

Leaders honor armed forces, reaffirm Pakistan’s defense strength, and highlight support for Kashmir and regional peace

ISLAMABAD: On the first anniversary of Operation Haq, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs, praising their courage, leadership, and commitment to national defense.

President Zardari released a message lauding Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership, strategic vision, and courageous decisions as pivotal to the operation’s success. He commended Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and the Pakistan Air Force personnel for their exceptional skill and professionalism. Similarly, Admiral Naveed Ashraf and the Pakistan Navy were praised for their operational readiness and defensive capabilities, which serve as a source of national pride.

The President stressed that Pakistan is a responsible and peace-loving state, capable of delivering a balanced but firm response to aggression, demonstrating its defense strength.

He reaffirmed that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally occupied by India, must be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions, with Pakistan continuing its moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. Highlighting regional security, he condemned India’s attempts to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty as “water terrorism” and urged Afghanistan to prevent its territory from being used for terrorism.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, praising the nation’s martyrs, their families, and the armed forces for standing as a “steel wall” defending Pakistan. He highlighted the coordinated and disciplined response of the military across land, air, sea, and cyber fronts, which decisively countered enemy aggression. Shahbaz Sharif also commended the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf for their strategic and courageous roles.

The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending sovereignty, maintaining regional balance, combating terrorism, and ensuring national security. He called on the nation to honor the sacrifices of martyrs by standing united and working selflessly for the country’s prosperity and dignity. He also highlighted Pakistan’s growing international role as a mediator and peace-promoter, citing recognition for its efforts in easing tensions between the United States and Iran.

Both leaders reaffirmed that Pakistan remains fully prepared to face any challenge and safeguard the nation’s security, sovereignty, and regional stability.
