President Trump likely to visit Pakistan before India

Confirmation of visit is expected in the coming weeks, say officials in Islamabad.

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump is likely to visit Pakistan on September 18, 2025, during his scheduled tour of South Asia.

According to official sources, the visit may take place either before or after Trump attends the QUAD Leaders’ Summit in India, which is being hosted in September.

The possibility of this visit comes shortly after Trump’s meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, on June 19 at the White House. Following the meeting, President Trump said it was “an honor” to meet the Pakistani Army Chief.

Trump stated that regional peace is important as both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers. He also confirmed that trade talks between the U.S. and Pakistan are ongoing, and important decisions are expected soon.

During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation in trade, economic development, minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and emerging technologies.

In a separate development, the government of Pakistan has recommended President Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India. The government acknowledged Trump’s efforts to avoid conflict in the region and welcomed his interest in resolving the Kashmir issue.

Further confirmation of the visit is expected in the coming weeks.
