ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed grave concern over the rising tide of extremist Hindutva ideology in India, stating that it poses a serious threat to the peace and stability of the entire region.
During a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders and workers who had come to extend Eid-ul-Adha greetings, President Zardari highlighted the need for national unity, economic reform, and regional awareness.
“We must remain loyal to our homeland and work diligently for its development,” the President said, stressing the importance of strengthening Pakistan’s economy on solid foundations and achieving self-sufficiency.
He further emphasized the immense potential for development within the country, particularly through the agriculture sector, which he described as the backbone of the national economy. “By supporting our farmers, we can uplift the entire economy,” he stated.
Commenting on the situation in India, President Zardari said that minorities, especially Muslims and Christians, are facing increasing discrimination and persecution. “The growing influence of Hindutva ideology in India is not just a domestic issue for them, it threatens the peace and security of the entire South Asian region,” he warned.
He also called for collective efforts for national progress and prosperity, urging all stakeholders to work together to build a stable and thriving Pakistan.
