KABUL: The United Nations Mission in Afghanistan has said that there should be an investigation into allegations that civilians were killed in a recent airstrikes by Pakistan on terrorist camps in the Paktia province of Afghanistan.
An official of the UN mission said that the Taliban regime in Kabul had alleged that the airstrikes by Pakistan killed scores of civilians.
The UN mission said that there should be utmost care for the protection of civilians in any military attacks.
Though there have been mo official words by either Pakistan’s Foreign Office of the military’s Inter-Services Public Relations, media reports said that Pakistan carried out two airstrikes in Afghan areas along the border and killed scores of militant camps.
The attacks by Pakistan Air Force were conducted soon after Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadi held a meeting with the interim Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul.
“Met Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi today. Held wide-ranging discussions. Agreed to work together to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote peace and progress in the region,” said Mr Sadiq posted on X.
The government of Pakistan has often said that terrorists affiliated with TTP were hiding in Afghanistan carrying out attacks on Pakistan. It said that the interim government in Kabul had repeatedly been asked not to allow terror groups to use its soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
However, despite these appeals and evidence shared with Kabul, the Taliban regime of Afghanistan has failed to take action leading to an increase terror attacks inside Pakistan. Such an irresponsible attitude would leave Pakistan with no option but take action against the terrorists on its own.
