KARACHI: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has accelerated efforts to restore direct flight operations between Pakistan and the United States.
According to reports, a team from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is set to visit Pakistan in January for another round of audits.
During this visit, the FAA team will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the PCAA and Pakistani airlines. All department heads within the PCAA have been instructed to ensure full preparedness for the audit.
The FAA’s primary focus will be on assessing the maintenance practices and flight safety standards of Pakistan’s aviation sector. A key area of scrutiny will be the long-range aircraft operated by Pakistani airlines, which are intended for the direct flights to the US. The audit will include a detailed review of the aircraft designated for these routes.
Should the audit meet FAA standards, it is expected to pave the way for the restoration of direct flights from Pakistan to the US. This follows a previous audit conducted in September, during which the FAA team evaluated the aircraft of Pakistani airlines as well as the operations of the PCAA.
