ISLAMABAD: Sister of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran has approached the Islamabad High Court, challenging the alleged solitary confinement of his brother in Adiala jail.

The petition filed by Aleema Khan names the jail superintendent, inspector general of prisons, NAB chairman, FIA director general and the executive director of PIMS Hospital as respondents.

According to the petition, a meeting with legal counsel on April 8 revealed that the PTI founder is being kept in solitary confinement for 22 hours a day, while his wife Bushra Bibi remains in isolation for 24 hours in the same  jail.

It further claims that no family member or party representative has been allowed to meet him during the past six months.

The petition argues that no court order authorises solitary confinement and describes the treatment as inhumane. It also states that Imran Khan informed his lawyer that his eyesight has been affected by 85 percent, adding that solitary confinement constitutes an additional punishment not included in his sentence.

Aleema Khan has requested the court to declare the solitary confinement unlawful. The petition was filed through Barrister Salman Safdar. Earlier, Bushra Bibi’s daughter had also filed a similar petition challenging her mother’s alleged solitary confinement.
