PTI tried to incite riots by provoking college students: CM

Says there was no rape incident in a college and PTI fabricated such a case for its vested interest.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that the PTI after failing to mobilize the public in its protest rallies tried to incite riots in Lahore by creating misunderstanding among college students about a fabricated rape case.

She said that the PTI, which she described as a terrorist party, provoked the students on the basis of a fabricated story of a rape case in a college.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore today, the Chief Minister said that there was a report lodged with the police about a rape incident with a female student at college.

But on that day the female student was not present in the village. Those alleging the rape claimed that CCTV footage of the day were deleted.

The chief minister said that a concocted story was hatched by the political party in order to create law and order situation. There was neither any evidence, a witness or a complainant because there was no such incident, she added.

The student is not a victim of rape or harassment but a victim of dirty politics by PTI.

Ms Maryam said that they have been searching for the alleged victim girl and the one said to be sexually assaulted had been in hospital since Oct 12 and the guard being accused of rape was on leave. Police arrested the guard from Sargodha and he is being probed by the police, she added.

The chief minister said that the PTI tried to use the allegation of rape to create chaos in the city. It was made an issue which had never occurred at all, she claimed.

She said that the PTI used social media to provide the students to create chaos through a conspiracy. The parents of the purported rape victim told the chief minister that it was a conspiracy and it was the responsiblity of the government to expose the conspirators.
