LAHORE: While the PTI party of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan is all set to hold a power show in Swabi city of KP and black day elsewhere on Feb 8th, the Punjab government imposed Section 144 across the province.
According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Home Department, on February 8, all kinds of political protests, rallies, processions, rallies and sit-ins could be banned.
The spokesperson said that Section 144 was imposed to maintain law and order, protect human lives and property. The decision to impose section 144 was taken on the recommendation of the cabinet committee on law and order and the provincial intelligence committee.
“Tomorrow’s rally will be held only in Swabi,” the PTI announced, adding that on Feb 8th, 2024, the mandate of the party was stolen by changing the results of the general elections and installing a puppet government.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has called for a black day on February 8.
PTI Punjab’s chief organizer Alia Hamza issued the directives to the members of the National and Provincial assemblies. He said that all leaders should peacefully protest against the election rigging in their constituencies.
