ISLAMABAD: In a major relief move for commuters, the government has announced that all public transport services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be free for the next 30 days.

The initiative, directed by the Prime Minister, will begin tomorrow and aims to provide financial relief to citizens.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the Ministry of Interior will bear the cost of the program, estimated at 350 million Pakistani Rupees. Officials say the move is designed to ease the burden on daily travelers and encourage the use of public transport within the capital region.

Local authorities have advised commuters to take advantage of the free service and follow all safety guidelines while using public transport.

This initiative is part of a broader set of measures aimed at subsidizing transportation and supporting citizens affected by rising fuel prices.
