Islamabad: The Punjab government has officially rolled out the e-challan system in Bahawalpur, further extending its Safe City Project to enhance traffic management and urban security.

According to an official press release, the initiative mirrors similar successful implementations in cities like Lahore and Multan. With the inclusion of Bahawalpur, the provincial authorities aim to enforce traffic laws more effectively using advanced surveillance technologies.

Modern Surveillance for Traffic Control

To ensure smooth execution, state-of-the-art monitoring infrastructure has been installed across the city.

CCTV cameras and number plate recognition software are central to the system, allowing traffic violations to be automatically recorded and fines issued digitally to the violators.

The Safe City Authority emphasized that the e-challan system will contribute significantly to reducing reckless driving and improving traffic discipline in Bahawalpur.

Part of a Larger Digital Strategy

The expansion of the e-challan system is part of the Punjab government’s broader vision to digitize public services and bring transparency to governance.

Officials noted that these measures not only support traffic regulation but also strengthen public safety and help reduce the workload on law enforcement personnel.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has urged citizens to abide by traffic rules and cooperate with the digital monitoring systems to avoid penalties.
