Regional Powers Voice Alarm Over Afghanistan’s Security Situation

TEHRAN: Leading regional countries including China, Russia, Pakistan, and several Central Asian states have voiced growing alarm over the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, warning that instability could pose serious security and terrorism-related risks for the wider region.

According to media reports, an extraordinary consultative meeting was held in Tehran to review developments in Afghanistan.

Representatives expressed concern over potential cross-border threats and emphasized the importance of collective efforts to prevent the spread of extremism and maintain regional stability.

Afghanistan was not represented at the meeting. Pakistan participated through its Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, was also in attendance.

Delegations from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan joined the discussions, reflecting shared regional concerns and the need for enhanced cooperation on security and diplomatic fronts.
