MOSCOW: Pakistan, China, Russia and Iran have jointly expressed deep concern over the growing presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, during a high-level four-nation meeting held in Moscow.
Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, shared details of the meeting, explaining that the discussions focused on regional peace, security, and the future stability of Afghanistan.
The participating countries reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the establishment of a stable, sovereign and peaceful Afghan state. They also underlined the urgent need to eliminate terrorism and prevent foreign interference in the country.
Mohammad Sadiq Khan noted that the delegates voiced serious concern about the continued presence of several banned terrorist organizations in Afghanistan, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Jaish al-Adl, ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
The representatives agreed on the need for closer coordination and joint actions among regional states to counter terrorism and safeguard shared security interests.
