Trucks of relief goods in queues waiting for opening of Rafah crossing

Plane carrying essential commidities including medicine from Pakistan has landed in Cairo.

CAIRO: Hundreds of trucks carrying relief assistance for the besieged people of Gaza have lined up on the Egyptian side of the only crossing into Gaza which was expected to open today.

The trucks were waiting for the opening of the Rafah crossing to reach Gaza where people have been waiting for essential supplies amid rubble of buildings brought down by Israeli air strikes.

Pakistan on Thursday sent a plane carrying relief assistance for the besieged people of Gaza and the plane landed in Egypt. The relief goods would be sent to Gaza through the Rafah crossing.

The Israelis started attacking Gaza in retaliation to the Hamas attacks on its areas early on October 7.

According to reports, nearly 4,000 people including hundreds of children have been killed in the air strikes with about 800 killed after the Zionist state bombed a hospital in the besieged enclave.

Egyptian authorities earlier said that the Rafah crossing was open on their side but as Israeli planes continued targeting areas on the Gaza side, relief goods could not be sent to the besieged people.

The reports also said that Egypt was reluctant to open the crossing fearing an exodus of Palestine who want to flee the bombing.

On the other hand, Israel wants as many Palestine to leave as possible with a plan to ti let them in again.

The immediate opening of the crossing has been demanded by humanitarian organizations as they feared that more people were at the risk of contracting different diseases and facing starvation as even  hospitals were without water and other basic essentials.
